What a wonderful time was had by all at the Pink Ribbon Day Breakfast on Sunday morning. It was held at the Labrador AFL Sports Club Inc  from 8am ’til 9am starting with a very invigorating walk around the oval. I would like to thank the organisers Fay and John for for their great efforts in  raising those funds for the Cancer Council . The breakfast was delicious and the prizes very generous.

Thank you all for attending and lets do it all again soon.

Last Saturday’s breakfast fundraiser for Cancer Survivors  at Fishermans Wharf was a great success despite the heavy rain. Dee Handyside was the highlight of the morning with her presentation and music. Her new CD is in ABC stores and www. peachyclub.com  with all proceeds going to cancer research. Our fashion parade was a delight with our most talented and enthusiastic models to whom we are very grateful.  We must thank the very generous businesses who donated gifts to be raffled. They are Runaway Bombshell, Terry White Chemist Runaway Bay, Jolos Fashion Runaway Bay, Advanced Aesthetics Pindara Hospital , Stephan Hairdresses Runaway Bay plus lots of other cash donations from individuals. We are already thinking about our next fundraiser probably in July. We thank everyone who supported us with their presence and donations, especially Sue Reid from Support Our Sisters who organised and ran the event. A BIG  SPECIAL  THANKYOU to you and Fishermans Wharf  for their excellent service and kind donation.

Last night I attended a gathering  of the Queensland Cancer Council at their Gold Coast premises to celebrate their 50 years of service to the community.

It was wonderful to meet all these people who contribute their time and finances to help cancer sufferers and invest in research. We heard how they purchased and fund 5 lodges to accomodate patients and families along with providing a free bus service and many support and research centres.

This makes Daffodil Day all the more important as it is their major fundraising event for the year. So remember the enormous effort this group has contributed to our welfare over the last 50 years and help them by buying a daffodil or other memento on the  26 August this year.

The Cancer Council Helpline is    13 11 20

So lets all be generous and look after each other
